2008 Convention location chosen

Barre, Vermont

Church steeples, clean crisp air, apple orchards, stone walls, covered bridges, antique capes and farmhouses all nestled into rolling hills.....come home to a place that your great grandparents would feel comfortable in. Because so many of our lines had branches settle in the Green Mountain state, we thought Vermont would be the perfect place to hold our next get-together! The Convention Committee has chosen Barre, Vermont as the location for our 17 & 18 October 2008 Convention. The host site will be The Hollow Inn and Motel on South Main Street in Barre (pronounced Barry). The Inn has sleeping accommodations, a continental breakfast and meeting space on-site, and is a short drive from a number of restaurants that offer a wide variety of menus.

We have negotiated a group rate of $90 (+tax) per night, for reservations made before 1 Sep 2008. Make sure you mention that you are with the Morse Society when you call to make your room reservations to receive this group rate. Each room has a tv, vcr, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, and hairdryer, and wireless high-speed internet access is available. The Inn can start taking reservations immediately, so give them a call at 1-800-998-9444. On 1 Sep 2008 any unreserved rooms in our block will revert back to the general Inn stock and the full nightly rate.

All of the rooms at the Motel have either 2 double or 2 queen beds (Inn rooms have one queen bed), if you would like to share a room, please email convention@morsesociety.org and let us know. We'll put the names and email addresses on a list that we'll email out to those seeking roommates and you can make your arrangements with another person on the list.

Message from the President

Our goal is to provide an informative, educational, and interesting "home on the web" for all of our Morse, Mors,  Morss, and Moss kin.  Our families started coming to North America in 1635, from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Russia, Holland, Norway and other far flung places. Some brought the surname with them and some changed their names after arriving, to more easily merge into their new communities. Clans settled in Canada, New England, the middle Atlantic states and the southeastern part of the U.S. Some came as free men, some as indentured servants, but all came to start a new life in the new world. No matter where your Morse or Moss family came from or where they decided to put down roots, your family is part of our family. Please come back often to see what new features we've added since your last visit.
