Morse Society Reunion 2006 Huge Success
The 2006 Morse Society Convention was held in
Westport, MA, on October 20th and 21st. Cousins came from 16 states and Canada.
Of the descendants and spouses who attended, 39 were Anthony line, 18 were
Samuel line, seven were unknown lines, six were William line, two were John Moss
line and eight were both Anthony and Samuel line. We had many siblings join us
this year, as well as a number of parent/children "teams".
Although it rained cats and dogs all day Friday, Dick Caldarone and
Taylor Morse put in a very busy afternoon manning the registration desk in the
MS hospitality room as folks arrived and checked in. In every corner of the room
cousins were chatting, comparing lineages, and making carpool arrangements to
tour the Lizzie Borden House and the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Store Manager
Pat McChesney did a yeoman's job of ringing up sales of tee-shirts, cookbooks,
totebags and maple syrup, while Burr Morse signed copies of his new book "Sweet
Days and Beyond".
From 2-4 p.m. Kathie Halvey, Malia Rigler, Carl Morse and Stafford-Ames Morse
ran the Research Teams' Open House at the Westport Public Library, and answered
ancestry questions from members as well as a number of local citizens.
