1993 Wallingford Connecticut
MS Newsletter Issue No. 74
As you know, the Morse Family Reunion in New England was
held this past October in Wallingford, Connecticut. What a great Reunion! A BIG
THANK YOU goes out to a very deserving Alicia Morse who orchestrated this year's
event. The activities were well thought out and planned.
During the business meeting a suggestion was made that the names and
addresses of all attendees be included in the next newsletter so you will find
those in this issue also. Another suggestion was to publish an updated Morse
Directory of all Morse Society members -- showing names, addresses, and whom
descended from. I will work with the master of our computerized mailing list and
with our Secretary to develop this directory.
The business meeting was followed by the program which included "Notes about
John Mosse, a founder of Wallingford" by Alicia Morse; Slides and commentary on
Samuel F. B. Morse's Locust Grove-- the Young-Morse Historic Site in
Poughkeepsie, NY by Winifred Mulvy and Edith Oakley; luncheon served by the
First Congregational Church Women's Fellowship, and a tour of the Wallingford
Historical Society's Samuel Parsons House and/or a tour of the ancient burial
ground where John Moss was buried. Those not taking the tours stayed in the
undercroft comparing Morse notes and swapping information and stories. Many of
the attendees then met for dinner during the evening to continue their reunion.
I feel safe in saying that a fun and informative time was had by all!!!
When's the next one?-- in October of 1995 so mark your calendars.
