The Morse Society

1989 Dartmouth Massachusetts

MS Newsletter  Issue No. 59

We had a very successful Morse Family Reunion. Instead of a guest speaker, I opened the floor to the attendees. This generated much discussion and information-sharing. Some of the suggestions advanced were:

   1) Put Morse Family "treasures" into the Massachusetts State Archives for preservation. Our own museum would be nice, but not feasible at this time.

   2) All of the Morses of Medfield and Dedham, Massachusetts, should be contacted and informed about the Society. Also, contact should be made with these localities' Historical Societies. Any volunteers?

   3) Everyone should send information about the Society to all Morses in their local telephone directories.

   4) An application with general information and the Secretaries name and address, should become a permanent part of each Newsletter. Members should photocopy and use to accomplish #3 above.

   5) Joseph Morse, husband of our new Newsletter Publishing Editor, Lillian, plans to complete a list of businesses by "morses" throughout history.

For those of you who couldn't attend -- you missed a great time! My thanks go out to all those involved in the Reunion, and especially to Jean Culver, Betty Verity, and Paul and Elaine Morse, members of the Reunion Committee.
